These excerpts from the collection of poems Little Garden of Poetry , which he wrote for his stepson, offer children a wonderful gateway into the world of poetry by plunging them into a universe of travel and daydreams.

N.D. Ces poesies sont magnifiques et les histoires tellement douces. Stevenson émerveille le quotidien et notamment le moment du coucher qui peut etre un peu effrayant. Ma fille les passe en boucle sans s’arrêter. On attend avec impatience la suite

Sara Les poèmes de Robert Stevenson m'ont toujours séduite car ils parlent d'aventures et de fantaisie. Ma fille adore l'écouter le soir au calme et commence à réciter les poésie par coeur !

Pour autant, nous trouvons dommage qu’en 2024 un petit garçon rêve d’une « belle dame à sauver enfermée dans une tour ».
Merci Jean-Baptiste pour votre avis sur ce recueil de poésie et navrées qu’il vous ait déçu. Il s’agit d’une traduction littérale de l’œuvre écrite par Stevenson au XIXème siècle qui nous semble garder toute sa force aujourd’hui. Le poème « Rêveries enfantines » auquel vous faites référence traite du pouvoir de l’imaginaire et des rêves, l’enfant (qui peut être un garçon comme une fille) parvenant par son imagination à transformer les objets banals de son quotidien en éléments merveilleux tout droit sortis de contes. Il y voit certes une dame emprisonnée dans un château mais aussi des contrées à explorer, des dragons, des cavaliers…
