At the beginning of the 20th century, Jules and his father, a hot air balloon merchant and music enthusiast, traveled throughout the Orient. Through the postcards he wrote to his mother back in France, Jules takes us along on his musical and cultural discoveries. In this volume, the young protagonist shares his wonder at the vibrant atmospheres of Algiers and Tunis, where he met Camille Saint-Saëns and was captivated by the enchanting sounds of traditional Arabic music.
